External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar has hit out at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for saying that Chinese soldiers had beaten up Indian jawans at Tawang. Speaking to the media on the 100th day of his Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi had said the “the Chinese soldiers were beating up our jawans in Arunachal Pradesh.” Dr Jaishankar also rejected criticism from the Congress that the government is not paying attention to what China is up to. He said that our jawans are fighting with the Chinese in Tawang sector, but it is the govt that is sending them there. He also said that the government has repeatedly made it clear that ties with China won’t be normal till the LAC standoff is resolved. Speaking about Rahul’s remark, Jaishankar said that nobody should use the word ‘pitai’ for our jawans.
